For Christmas, Lee and John bought me an art set, and ever since then, I have been hooked on painting. Every free chance I get (that I am not spending studying..) I whip out my brushes and get to work. It's so much fun and I feel like I caught on pretty quickly. I've posted a few pictures on facebook, but for those that don't have a facebook (mom, dad...etc) I'll put a few pictures up on here for you to see :)
This one was my very first painting ever!! It's on computer paper and...shut up, I know it sucks, but I wanted to practice using the oil before wasting a canvas.

My first painting on canvas!! This one is going to John, my brother-in-law. Thanks for pitchin in for the art set buddy! 20x16. This painting took about 6 hours to complete.

The painting was done for my good friend Ari. 20x16

This painting is going to Linda, my mother-in-law. 20x16. Did this painting in 2 settings, took about 3 hours total.

This one doesn't have a home yet. So in the meantime it will hang on my wall, ha. 16x20. This painting took two settings (had to wait for the first layer of paint to dry). About 3 hours total.

This painting is my first selling!! I was planning on keeping it for our walls, but Arianna loved it so much she made me an offer! Another 20x16. I did this painting in one sitting, took about 3 hours.

This painting was done for Dr. Barrett (one of the doctors I work with). He is going to hang it up on the wall at the hospital!! This one is 18x24. Getting bigger as I go. This painting took about 3 days to complete. About 8 total hours.

And this one is hanging in our living room. It is 3 - 12x24 so it's pretty big. It took me about 6 days to complete. Probably around 10 hours total.

That's about it for now! I have a list of about 5 people to do paintings for in the future! I never would have imagined that people would want to hang my work on their walls! It's so exciting! Once I finish my last college class (in 7 days!!) I'll have some free time to start working on more!
Hi Everyone, Thanks for checking out our blog! I thought this site would be a fun way to let our family and friends check in to see how we are doing. We are happily married, going on 1 year, 8 months married now (time flies, right?!). I am working hard to finish up my LAST semester here at California State University, Stanislaus. Just one Biology class stands in between me and my BA in Sociology!

Lee has a little ways to go still, he took a break from school so that he could work full time. With the crazy economy these days, we have to take turns going to school, haha. With the tuition fees, books, supplies etc it takes a toll on us financially. But at last, I will be finished in just two weeks!! When I finish Lee is going cut his work hours so he can take more classes. He is going to major in general Business with a concentration in Fire Science.

Lee is currently working full time as a car salesman at Carmax in Modesto. You may have seen their commercials online. It's a great company which is doing surprisingly well even now with the economy crisis. Lee enjoys it. It's great because it doesn't necessarily always pay commission, you get either hourly wages OR commission...whichever is better during that pay period. So it's a pretty sweet deal, he's not under huge pressure to make his quota because he gets paid either way.

I am working at a Veterinary Office here in Turlock. The hospital is only 2 blocks from our house which is perfect (since we only have 1 car). I ride my bike to work and school, which I love...except when it's raining, lol. At the vet office I am a receptionist, but I also get to do a wide range of things. I regularly help with small procedures in the back which is my favorite part. Any of you who know me...it is my dream job. I have wanted to work with animals since as early as I can remember. I am quite the animal lover, which explains our large (and growing) family...

Of course there is Lee and I, but we also have 4 animals running around our house. It can get pretty crazy at times. They may be small critters, but don't underestimate...they can get into BIG trouble. Rylie, our calico kitty was our first. I adopted her from my vet office when she was just 4 weeks old. She was found in an alley - in a shoe - trying to keep warm. Her cute little face was just too adorable to resist. So I took her home and both of us fell in love with the little furball.
Honestly, how could you NOT fall in love with that face?
She is all grown up now. About a year and a half old.

Dexter is our other Kitty. He is about 8 months old. He's got a similar story as Rylie. He was abandoned and adopted by me...a sucker for homeless animals.

Baby Dexter above, playing with brother Tyke. Below is grown up Dexter. He is a big goofball.
We also have two puppies. Tyke and Bullet are our two dachshunds. I got both of them through the hospital as well. (I know, I should probably find a new job right about now...haha. Too many animals need homes, and not enough room in our house!)

We got Tyke when he was just 7 weeks old. I was actually able to pick him out from a litter of 4 Dachshund puppies. It's been fun watching each of the animals grow up. Above is a picture of Tyke when he was about 12 weeks old, and below 8 months old.

Tyke - the beach bum on our 1 year Anniversary

Bullet - getting a bath.
This picture was taken just two days after we got Bullet. He was already 8 months old. We have only had him for a few months, but his personality will make you laugh all day. He's a fun dog to have around and he and Tyke are now inseparable. They just love each other.

So, there you have it. That's our family. We are all living in a two story, two bedroom, 1.5 bath apartment two blocks from my work in one direction, and 1 block from the University in the other. We just love it. It really is the perfect place for us! We want to wait a while before we settle down and have REAL children (the human kind) ha. But for now, the animals are just perfect, and we couldn't be happier.
